Hercules

There is so much hard work and determination that goes into summiting a mountain peak, the user sees a direct reward to their efforts on the trail because that work keeps you moving forward to new experience and view from different parts of the trail. Being in the wilderness is like having an opportunity to escape from your own reality into one bigger than just yourself.

Hercules is a system of organization and accessibility that can keep a party of hikers connected and organized in any location. The design reinvents how backpackers keep their limited belongings in place during long treks through the backwoods.

Michael Goodwin

Hello, my name is Michael Goodwin and I am a senior student studying Industrial Design. I am passionate about entering the design field because of the problem solving skills and using art to make a difference in the surrounding world. When not in the studio, I like to be outdoors and explore my surroundings as much as I can. I am an avid hiker and love to go backpacking at least once a year. My passion for hiking and backpacking has transferred into this project as my senior project was to design a hiking backpack with space for intentional organization designed into the bag. This project allowed me to take my love for the outdoors to the next level and start designing for the future of the backpacking industry.
