Thrift Store Reimagined
Autumn Popp

This project directly combats American consumerism culture of excess waste by focusing on one of the largest markets, the fast fashion industry. As one of the final resting places for fast fashion clothing, the thrift store presents an opportunity to break the waste cycle that perpetuates our society, and instead promote under-consumption and appreciation for our clothing. The reimagined thrift store is meant to educate the average shopper on how to repair, upcycle, or reimagine their clothing so that it can be utilized longer. Program spaces such as an upcycling studio, sewing classrooms, laundry, clothing swap event space, a runway, and even a building material manufacturing area, all encourage shoppers to think of new ways to utilize and recycle their clothing not only to benefit the environment, but also their wallet and self confidence.
