The Garage
Megan Page

The Garage is a community hub inspired by the familiar, multifunctional space found in every home — the garage. Traditionally a place where people store their tools, tinker with projects, park their vehicles, or simply hang out, the garage represents creativity, utility, and personal expression. This project scales that idea up, transforming it into a vibrant public destination that invites people to drive in, stay awhile, and take part in a culture of making, movement, and connection. At the heart of The Garage is the notion of accessibility — not just for people, but for vehicles as well. Every major programmatic space is reachable by car, blurring the boundary between automotive culture and community life. Vehicles can circulate through indoor and outdoor zones, reflecting how the garage in our homes is rarely a space of just parking — it’s a place of action, hobby, and engagement.
Architecturally, the building adopts industrial materials and open spans reminiscent of traditional garages, while introducing warm finishes, daylight, and layered transparency to elevate the spatial quality into something inviting, energetic, and human-scaled. The Garage is designed to activate the neighborhood by celebrating passions often kept behind closed doors — whether that’s restoring an old car, making art, or crafting furniture. It’s a space where personal hobbies meet public life, and where people can gather around shared interests. By preserving the vehicle’s role in community movement while promoting pedestrian comfort and creative gathering, The Garage becomes a truly hybrid social space for the modern maker.
