Lifelink Residence
Jordan Currier

By the year 2075, cities like Detroit were at a turning point. Decades of climate stress, rising care demands, and social fragmentation had left many urban cores hollow. People lived longer, but often alone, families were dispersed and young adults carried the burden of caregiving and housing costs. Basic needs such as wellness, belonging, and purpose were unmet by the conventional model of housing.
Lifelink Residence is an adaptive reuse of the historic Detroit Buhl building, designed to restore what the 21st century fragmented: deep human connection, shared responsibility, and responsive environments. It’s a shared ecosystem where families, both biological and chosen, coexist with neighbors across generations in a space designed for mutual care, lifelong learning, and collective resilience.
Powered by intelligent systems and guided by human connection, this living community blends the strength of multigenerational families with the richness of intergenerational diversity through daily exchanges of knowledge, stories, meals, and care. Here, privacy is protected, collaboration is encouraged, and well-being is the foundation of every design choice. It’s a prototype for the future of urban life: regenerative, inclusive, and powered by AI.
