Building Hope Foundation

MaKyla Goodman

The project aims to create safe and supportive environments for Domestic victims of violence by utilizing trauma-informed design principles. It will use existing knowledge to design domestic violence shelters and crisis centers, focusing on elements like clear sightlines, personalization, nature integration, diverse space types, and a home-like atmosphere. The project may involve situation analysis to identify specific needs and explore architectural design strategies. Visual barriers can enhance privacy and reduce sensory overload in shared spaces. The goal is to contribute to the development of shelters that promote the dignity and recovery of survivors, raising awareness and educating about trauma-informed design in shelter spaces.
