Gardens on Atwater Retail and Apartments

Ian Janus

Designed using mass timber, following LBC guidelines in regards to the site, health, and energy petals, while also adding in some elements from the water petal. The building engages the riverfront that is located across from the site and attempts to draw pedestrians in like a funnel into the inner city and acts as a gate way point to the riverfront. The site contains multiple plaza spaces of varying public and private levels and has multiple retail stations to engage the subjects on the site. Overall, the building looks to be a drawing and engaging force along the riverfront to bring people off the riverfront and into the city, hopefully influencing the expansion of the area as well as promoting environmentally friendly building practices and material use.
