The Book Nest
Hawraa Osman

The publishing industry’s lack of diversity and accessibility limits opportunities for underrepresented voices, with self published authors struggling to gain visibility and traditional publishing accepting only 1-2% of submissions. The Book Nest is a reader-centered network that reimagines book discovery through a balanced, typographic design system across digital, print, and physical experiences.
The app allows readers to access personalized recommendations, niche genre lists, and virtual book clubs. Prioritizing clarity and reader fluency over visual noise, the app uses dynamic type systems and intuitive UX/UI to create a focused, content-forward interface.
The website functions as a discovery space that guides readers through services, events, and pop-up stores. The Blind Date with a Book service—both online and in-store—is intentionally stripped of cover imagery, instead relying on typographic wrapping, clue cards and descriptive prompts that prioritize theme, synopsis, and reader intuition over trend. Meanwhile, the pop-up stores act as physical extensions of the platform located in high-traffic areas that use signage, language, and categorization to break away from traditional retail layouts and elevate book discovery.
