GARDEN

Emily Ledbetter

Nutrition education is falling through the cracks in schools—most kids only get about 8 hours of it a year! With childhood obesity affecting nearly 14.7 million kids in 2024, it’s more important than ever to get students excited about healthy eating. School gardens are an awesome way to do just that—letting kids dig in the dirt, grow their own veggies, and learn by doing. But with only 25% of schools having a garden, there’s a big gap to fill. This project is all about helping schools grow—literally—by creating fun, easy-to-use resources like starter kits, an interactive website, and take-home kits to make gardening programs bloom and bring nutrition education back to life!
